Mazda TPMS Information: 1st Generation and 2nd Generation SensorsThe Siemens VDO SE53005 sensor is the first generation tire pressure monitoring sensor that was factory equipped in the following Mazda vehicles:
Unfortunately, a replacement valve stem for vehicles using the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 tire pressure sensor does not exist. A broken valve stem requires the entire TPMS unit to be replaced. Starting the later half of 2010, the Siemens VDO SE53005 supersedes to the Continental BBM237140B TPMS sensor. A valve stem replacement also exists for the updated 2nd generation Continental sensor. (http://www.tpmsdirect.com/Contivalve_Replacement_Valve_Stem_p/conti-01.htm) The Contivalve replacement valve stem is compatible with the following 2010+ Mazda vehicles:
The contivalve replacement valve stem is not reverse compatible with previous Mazda models using the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 TPMS sensor. It can not be used as a replacement valve stem for the Siemens VDO SE53005. So the Siemens VDO SE53005 supersedes to the Continental BBM236140B. Can they be installed on the same vehicle and work fine together? One of my 1st generation, factory installed sensors is busted. Will the 2nd generation Continental work with the other three 1st generation Siemens sensors? You can purchase the 2nd generation Continental BBM236140B here The 2nd generation Continental BBM237140B TPMS sensor is reverse compatible with the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 and will play nice with the older sensors. |
