Unfortunately, a replacement valve stem for vehicles using the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 tire pressure sensor does not exist. A broken valve stem requires the entire TPMS unit to be replaced.

Starting the later half of 2010, the Siemens VDO SE53005 supersedes to the Continental BBM237140B TPMS sensor. A valve stem replacement also exists for the updated 2nd generation Continental sensor. (http://www.tpmsdirect.com/Contivalve_Replacement_Valve_Stem_p/conti-01.htm)

The Contivalve replacement valve stem is compatible with the following 2010+ Mazda vehicles:
  • 2013 Mazda6 Sport Sedan
  • 2012 CX-7 i
  • 2012 CX-7 s
  • 2012 CX-9
  • 2012 MAZDA5
  • 2012 MX-5 Miata
  • 2012 Mazda2
  • 2012 Mazda3 4-Door
  • 2012 Mazda3 5-Door
  • 2012 Mazda6
  • 2012 Mazda6 Sport Sedan
  • 2012 Mazdaspeed3
  • 2011 CX-7 i
  • 2011 CX-7 s
  • 2011 CX-9
  • 2011 MX-5 Miata
  • 2011 Mazda2
  • 2011 Mazda3 4-Door
  • 2011 Mazda3 5-Door
  • 2011 Mazda6 Sport Sedan
  • 2011 Mazdaspeed3
  • 2011 RX-8
  • 2010 Mazda3 4-Door
  • 2010 Mazda3 5-Door
The contivalve replacement valve stem is not reverse compatible with previous Mazda models using the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 TPMS sensor. It can not be used as a replacement valve stem for the Siemens VDO SE53005.

So the Siemens VDO SE53005 supersedes to the Continental BBM236140B. Can they be installed on the same vehicle and work fine together? One of my 1st generation, factory installed sensors is busted. Will the 2nd generation Continental work with the other three 1st generation Siemens sensors?

The 2nd generation Continental BBM237140B TPMS sensor is reverse compatible with the 1st generation Siemens VDO SE53005 and will play nice with the older sensors.
