How to check for malfunctioning TPMS sensors

We're back with another guide on proper TPMS inspection and audit procedures. Try to make it a habit to regularly inspect the TPMS sensors on your vehicle for malfunctions or broken parts.

Vehicle Inspection: Check to see if a TPMS system is present in the vehicle.

1) Turn the ignition to the ON position and look for a TPMS warning symbol on the dashboard. It should light up after ignition on and go out after the bulb check. If the light stays on, then there is a potential pressure issue on one or more tires.

2) If the bulb flashes and stays solid, then there is a system malfunction involving a missing or electonically broken sensor.

3) Audit the tires and sensors, visually inspecting for damage, checking for missing valve caps, and checking the pressure in each tire.
