What is a TPMS Relearn Procedure?

A TPMS relearn procedure is a special set of instructions that an operator must follow to initiate proper communication between the TPMS sensor unit and the vehicle ECU post installation. OEM TPMS sensors are installed with an operation protocol, but will not function if the correct relearn procedure is not following correctly.

Relearn procedures vary from vehicle to vehicle. Some sensors are easy to relearn and simply require the operator to drive the vehicle for 15 minutes at 20mph post installation (plug and play). Other TPMS sensors require a properly formatted TPMS programming/diagnostic tool to relearn. A local tire shop, service bay, or dealership is usually equipped with the proper set of TPMS tools.

TPMS sensors are intended for professional installation only Please contact your local tire shop, service bay, or dealership for more information regarding TPMS service and relearn.
