What is one of the leading causes of TPMS failure?

Corrosion is one of the leading causes of TPMS failure. The TPMS sensor unit or valve stem can be damaged by corrosion from moisture, road salts, missing valve caps, or galvanic corrosion (the use of dissimilar metals or non-TPMS components).

TPMS sensors can also fail due to improper handling of the sensor unit, valve stem, or service kit components.
